Cuba’s energy crisis
Cuba’s deepening energy crisis stems from the hardline stance maintained by the United States through its economic embargo, reinforced under the Trump administration. The economic stranglehold on Cuba has intensified following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, a key ally of Havana. President Donald Trump cut off oil flows from Venezuela to Cuba, threatening additional tariffs against the island nation.

Trump’s remarks on Cuba
Notably, in the wake of the latest escalation in the war with Iran, Donald Trump once again left the door open to the possibility of a military strike against Cuba. The exchange began when a reporter asked: “There are reports about Iranian drones in Cuba. Is there any concern about that?”
“Well, if they do have that, and they might very well have that, we’ll take care of it. Marco Rubio is right next door. And if they have it, we’ll take care of it in short order. We’re not going to have a problem — we’re not going to allow that to happen. They may have stored some drones, maybe yes, maybe no. We’ll find out very quickly,” President Donald Trump responded. “Is Donald Trump looking for yet another excuse to attack Cuba?” international media have been quick to ask.
