“God wanted him to live, and he will live” — the doctor’s heartfelt post about the 8-year-old’s fight for survival
In a post on social media, Dr. Vangelis Dimitropoulos of Amaliada Hospital described the harrowing moments he experienced, as well as the emotion he felt when the child began to respond: “When you see a child blue, pulseless, his little body frozen and his stomach swollen from drowning, the only thing you think about is keeping him alive! I did everything I could, I did everything I had to!” According to the doctor, the child’s condition began to improve following the medical team’s efforts. “The child’s color came back, he started crying, he regained blood pressure and a pulse, his little eyes began to open and close… What a vindication for a doctor when the fight, the effort, succeeds!!!” Closing his post, the doctor expressed his deep relief and emotion: “God wanted him to live, and he will live… I can now go quietly to a corner, cry, light a cigarette, and relax… Thank you, my God!!!”
