At a time when the protection of water resources and adaptation to climate change are at the forefront of public debate, environmental education has never been more important. Driven by this need, EYDAP (Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company) and the Goulandris Natural History Museum, as part of their strategic partnership, jointly announce the launch of a new online educational program titled “Climate Change and Water” — an initiative designed to inform and raise awareness among students, highlighting that the rational management of water is a critical issue for climate resilience, ecosystem protection, and sustainable development.
The program is being developed within the framework of both the Museum’s and EYDAP’s long-standing commitment to environmental education, responsible and holistic water resource management, and the promotion of a circular economy culture — particularly among younger generations. It draws on the digital environment of the “Climate Change and Us” exhibition, offering a modern and interactive learning experience. For EYDAP, environmental education is not a standalone initiative but a systematic investment rooted in the core of its mission: the sustainable and responsible management of water for the benefit of society and future generations.
Through live online presentations, students will have the opportunity to take part in a Virtual Tour of the exhibition, watch selected audiovisual content, and interact with museum educators through discussion and hands-on educational activities. At the same time, new educational content focused on recycling and sustainable water management will be integrated into the exhibition’s digital environment, further enriching the experience for participants.
The program is aimed at students in grades 5 and 6 of primary school, as well as middle and high school students, and participation will be free of charge for all schools. The program is scheduled to launch in late 2026, following the completion of its educational design and pilot phase.
With this new initiative, EYDAP and the Goulandris Natural History Museum are strengthening their partnership, nurturing a new generation of citizens equipped with knowledge, environmental awareness, and an active role in protecting our most precious natural resource: water. Because shaping responsible citizens is the most long-term investment we can make in safeguarding the country’s water resources.
