Specifically, local police stated they received reports about an armed man, approximately 18 years old, who was behaving strangely and threatening to harm his mother at a nearby house.
When police arrived at the scene to arrest him, the suspect broke into the school and opened fire, seriously injuring the principal before taking a teacher and students hostage. Police later arrested the man and confirmed that at least three people had been injured, adding that there were no remaining hostages.
