Storm damage: Communication with mayors beyond Attica
The municipalities have documented the problems arising from the severe weather wave and will present them in detail. Emphasis is expected on infrastructure damage, homes requiring repairs, businesses, as well as the immediate needs of affected citizens. The meeting’s objective, as emphasized by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection in its announcement, is to address and implement solutions for storm-related problems, and coordinate next steps for damage restoration.
As noted in the related announcement, Deputy Minister K. Katsafados is already in continuous communication with all mayors across the country, in areas where problems have emerged from the recent storm wave, while instructions have been sent regarding the first necessary actions to be implemented. It’s further noted that emergency status has been declared not only in Attica areas, but also in other affected regions nationwide. “DNADIR teams are in continuous contact with municipalities and, following municipal authorities’ guidance, are expected to begin inspections immediately. Mayors are gathering the complete damage assessment and informing citizens about the procedure to be followed, with DNADIR support, to ensure rational and effective documentation and restoration of impacts,” the ministry emphasizes in its announcement.
