The world’s largest international media outlets are providing minute-by-minute coverage of the collision between two helicopters in Psatha, Greece. The planet’s biggest news networks interrupted their regular programming to broadcast the dramatic developments as they unfolded.

According to initial reports, communication with one of the two helicopters operating in the Psatha area was lost immediately after the collision. The Fire Service Operations Center was mobilized at once, launching a search and rescue operation for the crews.
“During an aerial firefighting operation, two Bell helicopters leased by the fire service, each carrying a crew of two, crashed in the wider Psatha area in Attica,” the Greek Fire Service stated in an official announcement.
The helicopters had taken off from the Elefsina military airbase, located within the greater Athens metropolitan area. The Bell helicopters, which were leased by the fire service, were carrying a total of four crew members, two of whom have been rescued.
