In a post on his personal Facebook account, Mr. Didaskalou categorically emphasized that he has no involvement in the case regarding the urban planning network scandal. Georgios Didaskalou’s statement regarding his resignation from the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture
“In relation to various publications that associate my resignation from the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture with the revelations about the urban planning scandal under investigation, I categorically declare the following:
1) I have no involvement whatsoever with the case.
2) My resignation was requested within the framework of renewal being undertaken, as I had held the position of Secretary General for 7 years. It was not related to or requested because of the case under investigation. It was naturally placed at the disposal of the political leadership, which appointed me to this position and maintained me, evaluating my work, at every subsequent assessment.
3) I have no relation or responsibility for the formation and composition of the collective bodies, over which I presided, due to my capacity, for 7 years. Regarding the member of the Central Council of Modern Monuments, who appears to be involved, they are not an employee of the Ministry of Culture nor do they belong to it, but were proposed to the Ministry by the competent authority, as their representative.
4) Those who seek to present me as involved in illegal activity obviously do not know my career, ethics and integrity, principles and values with which I worked all these years, giving my best self. The best answer to all of them comes from the employees and members of the Collective Bodies in the Ministry of Culture, with whom I had the honor to collaborate in order to achieve very important work, which was recognized by everyone, always defending the public interest and the cultural heritage of our country.”
