The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, met with European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi earlier today, focusing on organized cross-border crime, with emphasis on financial crimes, as well as the progress of cases handled by the Hellenic Police that fall under the jurisdiction of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Specifically, as announced by the Ministry of Citizen Protection, during this new meeting a brief assessment was made of the joint actions that have been developed and the good cooperation between the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (ΔΑΟΕ) and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office was confirmed. At the same time, other matters of mutual interest were also discussed.

Furthermore, according to a ministry announcement, further cooperation was agreed upon, with the exchange of information and expertise for combating cross-border organized crime, with emphasis on financial crimes.
Finally, the minister reiterated that the Hellenic Police services remain at the disposal of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office for any cases that may be required.
The meeting was attended by the deputy director of ΔΑΟΕ, Lieutenant General Ioannis Stavrakakis, the supervising prosecutor of Appeals, Dimitris Gkyzis, the head of the Executive Office of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, Milan Jaron, the head of the delegated European prosecutors, deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court Eleni Karkampouna and officers of the Hellenic Police.
