The United States is “taking control” of the Strait of Hormuz, declared Donald Trump in a Fox News interview, linking the development to Iran and international oil markets. The US president also stated that Tehran had violated the agreement previously reached in Washington.

Trump: The US will act as “guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz
Trump further stated that the US will serve as a “guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz, adding that Washington should be compensated for taking on this role. “We will be paid for guarding the Strait,” he added.
The US president also launched a fresh attack on Iran’s leadership, calling them “a bad group of people.”
