Kostas Kollias has assumed the New Democracy parliamentary seat in Corinthia following the death of Nikos Tagaras. As the first alternate candidate on the New Democracy ballot in the Corinthia electoral district, Kostas Kollias succeeds the late MP in the Greek Parliament with his swearing-in ceremony. It is recalled that Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tagaras passed away at the age of 70, with the news spreading sorrow throughout the political world.

Kostas Kollias has been involved in public affairs from a young age. He was a founding member of DAP-NDFK and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sivitanidios School Student Association from 1974 to 1977. In 1988, he developed a trade union career as a DAKE representative at the Public Power Corporation.
In the prefectural elections of 1998, 2002, and 2006, he was elected first in preference votes as a Corinthia prefectural councilor, while he has served twice as Deputy Prefect.
In the 2007 national elections, he was elected as a Corinthia MP with New Democracy. He was also elected in 2009 and June 2012. As a parliamentarian, he served as chairman of the Special Standing Committee on Research & Technology, member of the Standing Committee on Production and Trade, chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Greece-Uzbekistan, and member of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups Greece-USA, Russia, and China.
He has also served as Agricultural Secretary of New Democracy and Deputy Agricultural Development Sector Head of the party.
In June 2021, following a recount of ballots, the Electoral Court declared Kostas Kollias MP for Corinthia, replacing Marilena Soukouli-Viliali, who had been elected in the 2019 parliamentary elections.
