Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis has demanded the immediate withdrawal of video footage being circulated by news media following the tragic incident involving two 17-year-old girls who jumped from an apartment building rooftop in Ilioupoli. He described the material as “deeply problematic and dangerous” and called for intervention by Greece’s media watchdog and the justice system.

The government spokesperson noted that broadcasting this particular video constitutes an “absolute lack of respect” toward the families of the girls, emphasizing that it is “imperative” to stop its transmission. He also stated that he considers it self-evident that both the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) and the justice system “will do what is necessary.” Pavlos Marinakis also expressed his condolences to the family of the 17-year-old who died, while wishing a speedy recovery to the other minor, who is fighting for her life.
