Wreaths and flowers at the martyrdom site of Kaisariani Shooting Range, where on May Day 1944 the Nazis executed 200 Greek political prisoners, were laid on May Day morning by a PASOK delegation, led by party president Nikos Androulakis.
Immediately after, Mr. Androulakis stated that “we are here again this year, at the martyrdom site of Kaisariani Shooting Range. Here where 82 years ago 200 Greek patriots stood against Nazi weapons and sacrificed themselves for the freedom of their homeland. But this year is a special anniversary. This year there is great reverence because a unique photographic document came to light that captures one of the most significant moments in modern Greek history and along with that moment captures the heroism in the faces of the two hundred Greeks.”
“Workers’ May Day means struggle, solidarity and responsibility and we must put all three into practice daily to achieve a fairer society, with respect for labor rights and human rights. A society with hope and prospects for every Greek woman and man, but especially for the younger generations,” emphasized the PASOK president.
