European Parliament approves Autias proposals for border funding

The Economic Affairs Committee of the European Parliament approved, by a wide majority, the proposals by New Democracy MEP Giorgos Autias for financial support of Greek borders.

European Parliament: What the approval of the proposals means

This approval constitutes a crucial decision for equal financial support of Europe’s Eastern borders. Any financial support will also cover the Eastern European borders.

Giorgos Autias’s proposals provide for coverage of all eastern regions of the European Union, including Greek borders. The MEP has repeatedly highlighted the threat from the east, from Turkey, as Turkish politicians continue making statements against Greece. Giorgos Autias’s proposal is included in the European Parliament Report on the EU Multiannual Budget 2028-34.
