The official ceremony for the proclamation of the 56 new members of parliament elected in the parliamentary elections in Cyprus took place in a festive atmosphere at the Nicosia Municipal Theater, marking the new composition of the House of Representatives. In the presence of political leaders, party officials, relatives and friends of the elected members, the process was completed confirming the new political balance in the country, with significant presence of new political formations and several new faces in the Cypriot parliament. The new House is expected to convene for the first time on June 4, while particular interest was drawn to the election of 24-year-old Efraim Christou as the youngest MP, the entry of the ALMA party into the House, and the changes recorded in the party map after the completion of the second and third seat allocations.
Cyprus: The ceremony for the MPs
The ceremony began with the proclamation of MPs who secured seats through the first allocation in alphabetical order of parties and according to the most preference votes in each party. The proclamation of MPs for the Nicosia district was carried out by the Nicosia Election Supervisor, Andreas Chatzipakkos.
From AKEL, General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, Giorgos Loukaides, Christos Christofidis and Aristos Damianou were proclaimed.
From ALMA, party President Odysseas Michailidis was elected.
From DISY, Dimitris Dimitriou, Giorgos Pamboridis, Savia Orfanidou, Andreas Konstantinou and Charalambos Petridis were proclaimed. The election of Andreas Konstantinou is expected to lead to an electoral process for the position of deputy mayor in the Municipal District of Aglandjia.
From DIKO, party President Nicolas Papadopoulos was proclaimed, from ELAM President Christos Christou, while from the Direct Democracy movement Giannis Laouris was proclaimed, following the renunciation of the seat by movement President Fidias Panayiotou who remains in his position as MEP.
In the Limassol district, where the proclamation was carried out by Election Supervisor Emily Dionysiou, from AKEL Efraim Christou and Marina Nikolaou were proclaimed, with the former being recorded as the youngest MP of the new House at 24 years old. From DIKO Panikos Leonidou was elected, from DISY Foteini Tsiridou, Giorgos Karaiskakis and Michalis Fellas, while from ELAM Polys Anoyiriadis was proclaimed.
In the Famagusta district, Election Supervisor Florentia Georgiou proclaimed from AKEL Nikos Kettiros and Giorgos Koukoumas, from DISY Giorgos Karoullas, Nikos Georgiou and Giorgos Lyssandridis, while from ELAM Linos Papayiannis.
From the Larnaca district, where the Election Supervisor was Georgia Loizia, Andreas Pasiourtidis from AKEL and DISY President Annita Dimitriou were proclaimed.
In Paphos, Election Supervisor Effrosyni Georgiou Flourentou proclaimed Valentinos Fakontis from AKEL and Charalambos Pazaros from DISY.
Cyprus: MPs proclaimed from the second and third allocation
This was followed by the proclamation process for MPs elected through the second and third allocation, which was carried out by General Election Supervisor Elikks Ilias. In Nicosia, Konstantinos Konstantinou from AKEL, Irini Charalambidou from ALMA, Christiana Erotokritou and Chrysis Pantelidis from DIKO, as well as Marios Pelekanos and Andreas Papacharalambous from ELAM were proclaimed.
In Limassol, Argentoulla Ioannou from AKEL, Michalis Paraskevas from ALMA, Dimitris Souglis from Direct Democracy, Michalis Kounonnis from DISY and Evgenios Chaboulas from ELAM were proclaimed.
In Famagusta, Giannakis Gavriil from AKEL, Litsa Drousiotou from ALMA, Diana Lucia Konstantinidis from Direct Democracy, Zacharias Koulias from DIKO and Linos Chatziyeorgiou from ELAM were proclaimed.
From Larnaca, Panikos Xioruppas from AKEL, Andreas Apostolou from DIKO, Prodromos Alamvritis from DISY and Sotiris Ioannou from ELAM were proclaimed. In Paphos, Dimitris Baros from Direct Democracy, Chrysanthos Savvidis from DIKO and Nikoletta Konstantinou from DISY were proclaimed, while in Kyrenia Anastasia Chasikou from AKEL, Adamos Aspris from DIKO and Dimos Georgiades from DISY were proclaimed.
During the ceremony, representatives of religious groups in the House of Representatives were also presented. Petros Nakouzis was proclaimed as representative of the Maronites following an electoral process.
It was also recalled that Vartkes Mahtesian as representative of the Armenian religious group and Antonella Lydia Mantovani as representative of the Latin religious group had already been proclaimed on May 7, 2026 without opponents.
The completion of the process officially sealed the composition of the new House of Representatives, which is called upon to manage a new political reality with reshuffles in the party map, new faces and significant presence of new political formations in the new parliamentary period.
