Another successful nighttime search and rescue operation for migrants was completed in the early hours of Friday, off the coast of Crete. Around midnight, a Frontex drone detected a small vessel approximately 7.5 nautical miles south-southwest of the island of Gavdos.
Shortly after, a Frontex patrol vessel was dispatched to the area and, under the coordination of the Hellenic Coast Guard’s search and rescue center, successfully recovered all 42 foreign nationals on board. The rescued individuals were subsequently transferred to the port of Paleochora.
