Police are on the hunt for a 40-year-old Tunisian man who is reportedly roaming the center of Athens still wearing handcuffs. According to initial reports, the man escaped during his transfer to the Athens courthouse on Evelpidon Street, near the intersection of Kodrigtonos and Acharnon Streets.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, however, as some sources indicate he managed to flee after police had already arrived at the location with him. Athens public transport authority OASА reportedly issued an alert to drivers warning that a man in handcuffs had been spotted moving through the city center.
The incident is believed to have occurred at around 7:30 PM on Friday, September 25. The 40-year-old Tunisian suspect, who remains at large, is reportedly facing charges related to receiving and handling stolen goods, and was being transferred to the Evelpidon courthouse as part of ongoing judicial proceedings.
