A dramatic turn of events unfolded within hours in the death case of a 25-year-old woman found in a pool of blood at a kiosk along the cycling path in Igoumenitsa, as her 27-year-old partner allegedly confessed to police that he was the one who killed her.
The young woman was found dead on the evening of Sunday, September 20th, bearing deep wounds from a sharp object to the carotid artery area and her legs. A short distance from the scene, the 27-year-old man was also found — he was the one who had called the police requesting help. The man was transferred to the Emergency Department, as he sustained minor knife wounds to the chest, and remains hospitalized under police guard.

Femicide in Igoumenitsa: “We argued and I lost control”
Initially, the 27-year-old had told police that unknown assailants had attacked both him and the 25-year-old woman. However, officers from the Igoumenitsa Security Sub-Directorate handling the case promptly reviewed the evidence and identified the contradictions in his account.
He then allegedly confessed that an argument with his partner had preceded the incident, telling officers in his own words: “We argued and I lost control.”
The 25-year-old, who was working seasonally in Igoumenitsa, was found dead at the first kiosk along the cycling path. The 27-year-old remains hospitalized under police guard, while the preliminary investigation is ongoing. The Security authorities’ inquiry is in full swing, aiming to clarify the motive and the exact circumstances of the murder.
Meanwhile, police are seeking footage from security cameras in the wider area in order to map the couple’s movements and reconstruct the events that preceded the crime.
