The investigation into the death of Giorgos Mazonakis is now entering its substantive phase, with the coming days expected to shed more light on what happened at the Karneadou Street clinic on September 9, as well as the events that preceded and followed it.
At the center of the judicial investigation is the testimony of the hypnotherapist, who is expected to appear before the examining magistrate this morning. According to sources, he is prepared to give a detailed account of his contacts with Giorgos Mazonakis, as well as the individuals who reportedly brought them together. Among other things, he is expected to describe the meeting he had with the singer on Monday, along with the scheduled appointment on Wednesday, September 9 — the day the well-known singer lost his life.
Also of significant interest is what he is expected to testify regarding his communication with the accused doctor. He reportedly maintains that, while the singer was still alive, he received only a single photograph from her. He is also said to claim that he had known the doctor for quite some time and that it was she who referred clients to him.
Who else is expected to testify
The hypnotherapist’s testimony will not be the only one taken as part of the investigation. In the coming period, additional witnesses are expected to be called, including individuals who have already given statements to police authorities.
In this context, the clinic’s staff are also expected to be examined, as are the EKAV paramedics who arrived at the scene. Of particular importance will be the evidence emerging from the lifting of telephone privacy protections. Investigators will examine the communications between the two doctors during the critical timeframe — from the moment Giorgos Mazonakis arrived at the clinic through to the call made to emergency services.
As the investigation develops, it cannot be ruled out that new individuals may be called to testify, should the case file warrant it.
