A shocking security camera video has emerged capturing the moment burglars attempted to break into a home in the Nea Penteli area of Athens. Inside the house was an 18-year-old who was home alone and experienced absolute terror when he realized what was happening — locking himself in a room to protect himself from the intruders. The footage, obtained by Mega TV, captures the suspects’ every move frame by frame.
Terror in Nea Penteli: “They broke through the reinforced door and forced their way in with crowbars,” says teen’s father
The teenager’s father spoke to Mega TV about the shocking incident, revealing that the perpetrators rang the doorbell first to make sure the house was empty — unaware that the 18-year-old was inside studying at the time.
“My son was on the upper floor of the house. The boy was sitting and studying when they suddenly rang the doorbell to confirm no one was home. They didn’t realize my son was actually inside. They broke through the iron gate of the property to get in — they forced it open. Then they broke through the reinforced front door of the house and forced their way in with crowbars,” the father told Mega TV.
Nea Penteli: Burglars’ movements caught on camera frame by frame
As seen in the footage, two of the burglars stepped out of a parked vehicle — one of them visibly carrying a crowbar. A third accomplice was already in the property’s garden, checking whether the residents were away. The burglars rang the doorbell before successfully forcing the door open and breaking into the home.
“They were all wearing gloves — they were very well organized. There were either four or five of them. One stayed in the car, an old BMW, and they had a walkie-talkie. If you look at the last one, he had a walkie-talkie in his hand and a spray can. The one in the middle had a bat and a crowbar, and the one at the front had a screwdriver — he would go straight for you with it, no hesitation,” the homeowner added.
Fortunately, as soon as the intruders became aware of the teenager’s presence, they fled the scene. The incident is now under investigation by authorities, with police collecting additional security camera footage from the route the suspects took after the break-in in an effort to track them down.
