According to information provided by the National Transplant Organization, three surgical teams — one from Laiko General Hospital, one from Genimatas General Hospital, and one from Germany — will operate simultaneously to retrieve the kidneys and liver (first team), the corneas (second team), and the lungs (third team). The family had made the decision to donate the organs on August 19, when they were informed that the 39-year-old motorcyclist had been declared brain dead.

Regarding the 39-year-old being treated at KAT Hospital following the tragic accident on the Coastal Avenue on August 17, and following the confirmation of his death based on neurological criteria (brain death) and the consent of his family for organ donation, we wish to inform the public that the organ retrieval surgery is scheduled for tonight at 00:30. Surgical teams from Laiko General Hospital (kidneys and liver), Genimatas General Hospital (corneas), and a team from Munich, Germany (lungs) will be present at KAT Hospital. Preparations for this major medical operation are currently underway in full, under the coordination of the Greek National Transplant Organization.
