The incident in Vrilissia, involving a large dog’s attack on a small dog and its owner, was brought to light by ANT1 television through video footage and statements from the 66-year-old victim. According to the timeline, at 6:42 a.m. on Friday, July 17, the man and his dog were captured on security cameras, while separate footage shows a woman walking the dog that allegedly carried out the earlier attack at 6:11 a.m. the same day. A third clip shows a man stepping out of a doorway — the same one the owner had passed through earlier — at 7:05 a.m. and looking to his right. Notably, the same camera that recorded the woman and the dog also captured a police patrol car and an ambulance two minutes later, at 6:13 a.m. — before the footage of the man walking the small dog that the large pet allegedly attacked.

Vrilissia: “It may have been tied up”
The 66-year-old spoke to ANT1 and said: “I’m in shock. What can I say… We treated him like our own child. It strangled him, grabbed him right here… It strangled him — our dog had no marks anywhere on its body.” According to his account, the attack took place outside a bakery in Vrilissia: “When it attacked me, the chain was dragging along the ground. The dog was not tied up. It may have been tied up at some point. When it spotted my little dog as I was heading to the bakery, it lunged at me. It instantly killed my dog, and when I ran to save him, it turned on me as well,” he added.
The owner, for her part, reportedly told police: “That morning I went to buy bread. Before entering the shop, I tied my dog with a chain to a special metal ring outside the store. While I was inside, I heard shouting from outside and realized my dog had broken free. When I came outside, I saw the victim. He was standing and had been injured by my dog, and I rushed to restrain my pet using my body weight.” ANT1 also showed the special metal ring to which the woman claims she had secured her dog.
