Shocking new details are emerging about the murder of a 39-year-old woman in Kalamata, who lost her life in the early hours of Monday (1/6) at the hands of her 41-year-old husband. According to reports, the accused claims that an intense altercation preceded the incident with his wife, alleging that she reacted and attacked him with a knife. However, the findings of the police investigation so far do not appear to confirm his claim, as the victim bears multiple wounds, while he shows no defensive marks or injuries that would indicate a struggle.
Police officers who investigated the scene of the femicide are examining all possibilities and do not rule out that the knife was placed in the woman’s hand after the murder, in a possible attempt to alter the appearance of the incident. The findings of the forensic examination are expected to play a decisive role in the case.
There does not appear to be a history of domestic violence, however witnesses report that the perpetrator was excessively jealous and believed she was cheating on him, which was the cause of frequent arguments between them. Local residents reported that the couple had been fighting constantly lately and had heard the woman shouting that her husband was hitting her with a belt, threatening that she would report him.

The two girls were transferred to the Pediatric Clinic of Kalamata Hospital for protective custody and support, until the Kalamata Prosecutor’s Office decides where they will go.
