A robbery occurred on Wednesday morning (20/05) inside a church in the Omonia area. According to the Greek police, the 37-year-old perpetrator approached a man who was inside the church and immobilized him by grabbing him by the neck, in order to steal a bag containing personal items. Officers from the Patrol Sub-Directorate were immediately mobilized after being informed about the incident by a citizen.
Greek police: How the perpetrator was located
After searches in the wider area, they located the 37-year-old at the moment he was attempting to escape. According to the Greek police, the accused put up strong resistance during his arrest, however the officers managed to immobilize him and take him to the Omonia Crime Investigation and Detection Unit. Criminal charges were filed against him for robbery, while he was brought before the competent prosecutor.
