Princess Anne arrived in Greece earlier Thursday afternoon (21/05), as part of her visit to the country for events commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Crete. Her Royal Highness arrived at “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport accompanied by her husband, Rear Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Olga Kefalogianni welcomes Princess Anne
The British royal couple was welcomed at the airport by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, on behalf of the Greek government, and British Ambassador Matthew Lodge. It should be noted that Princess Anne will remain in Greece until Sunday May 24, 2026, in a visit with strong symbolic and diplomatic character directly connected to the historical memory of the Battle of Crete and the enduring relations between Greece and the United Kingdom.

Princess Anne’s official visit is expected to begin at the Presidential Palace in Athens, where at 10:30 Friday morning she will meet with President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas. Her presence at the highest state level is considered particularly significant, as the British royal family maintains close historical ties with Greece, while Princess Anne herself has participated in the past in events of historical and military character.
