The process for the rent rebate program is now underway for healthcare and education workers serving in regional areas of Greece, excluding Athens and Thessaloniki. Eligible recipients are expected to receive a refund equivalent to up to two monthly rent payments, with the total amount reaching up to €1,600.
The rebate covers rent payments made during 2024, with the key requirement that all relevant transactions were processed through the banking system and are verifiable through official transaction records. For example, a healthcare or education worker who paid €500 per month in rent throughout 2024 could receive a refund of €1,000 — equivalent to two months’ rent.
Payment of the rent rebate to these specific eligible recipients is expected to be issued by the end of November. During the same period, rent rebates are also expected to be paid out to all other qualifying recipients who meet the prescribed income and asset eligibility criteria.
