Generali is strengthening its position among international sustainability leaders, earning four major recognitions in 2026 from leading global organizations and independent rating bodies. Its inclusion in the TIME World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026, Newsweek World’s Greenest Companies 2026, and Financial Times Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 lists — along with top honors for its ESG Program at the Extel Rankings 2026 — paints a comprehensive picture of consistency and progress across multiple dimensions of sustainability. These distinctions are based on different methodologies and criteria, yet they converge on a single point: they recognize Generali’s systematic effort to embed sustainability into the way it grows, invests, insures, and operates.

Generali on the TIME and Statista World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026 list
On the Financial Times and Statista Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 list, Generali is ranked among 600 European companies that have made significant progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The assessment takes into account both emissions trends and companies’ transparency and broader climate commitments, recognizing Generali’s progress and the implementation of the Group’s Climate Transition Plan.
At the same time, Generali is included once again in the TIME and Statista World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026. More than 5,000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies were evaluated for this year’s edition, with the 750 recognized assessed against more than 20 different indicators.
Similarly, Generali’s inclusion in Newsweek’s World’s Greenest Companies 2026 places it among 850 companies from 28 countries that stand out for their efforts to reduce their environmental footprint and contribute to the transition toward a more sustainable future.
Rounding out the picture is recognition from the international investment community. At the Extel Rankings 2026, Generali secured the top position in ESG and was named Most Honoured Company. Group CEO Philippe Donnet was also recognized for the fifth consecutive year as Top CEO in the European insurance sector, with the Group earning leading positions in the Top CFO, Investor Relations, and Company Board categories as well.
Taken together, these four international accolades represent an exceptionally significant distinction — not because they evaluate a single environmental initiative or performance metric, but because they capture different facets of the same strategic commitment: the gradual integration of sustainability across Generali’s entire value chain. This direction lies at the heart of the strategic plan “Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence,” through which the Group aims to contribute to a green and just transition, strengthen societal resilience, and create long-term value for all stakeholders.
From global strategy to everyday operations in Greece
For Generali in Greece, this international recognition is more than a source of pride. It is the broader framework within which sustainability is expected to take on a concrete, measurable, and visible form in the company’s day-to-day operations and in the communities where it operates.
A prime example is Generali’s headquarters on Syngrou Avenue, designed to meet high standards of environmental and energy performance and certified LEED Platinum. Its environmental philosophy extends beyond the building itself to the surrounding outdoor space, where enhanced greenery helps improve the local microclimate, reduce the urban heat island effect, and create a more welcoming and human-scale public space within the dense urban fabric of Athens.
In the same direction, the company is gradually transitioning to electric vehicles for executive travel, reducing the environmental impact of corporate mobility. A systematic paperless strategy is also in place, with the digitization of processes and communications cutting paper consumption and physical resource use while simultaneously building a more modern and efficient operating model.
In this way, sustainability is not treated as a standalone area of corporate responsibility — it increasingly runs through the company’s everyday operations: from the building and energy use to mobility, processes, and ways of working.
A footprint that extends into society
This same philosophy takes on a social dimension through the “Feel the Love” strategy — a coherent framework of initiatives centered on the Environment, vulnerable social groups and children in particular, and Culture, with inclusion as a horizontal principle across all actions.
On the environmental front, the company’s partnerships and initiatives to enhance urban green spaces, protect the natural environment, and raise awareness of the consequences of climate change extend the impact of choices first applied within its own corporate operations.
At the same time, through sustained partnerships with social organizations, actions supporting children and vulnerable groups, inclusion initiatives, the active engagement of employees through the Lion Hearts volunteer network, and support for culture as a domain of social cohesion and participation, Generali seeks to create value that goes beyond the boundaries of its insurance activities.
For the Generali Group, sustainability is not demonstrated solely through targets and global rankings — it is demonstrated above all through the ability to translate a global strategy into everyday choices, concrete investments, and actions with a positive impact in every place where it operates. That is precisely the essence of its commitment: the international ambition of a global Group finding expression in every country, and through an operating model that understands local community needs, turning sustainability into action.
