Eurobank continues its longstanding support of the Greek Armed Forces, making a donation to upgrade the “Panagia” Surveillance Outpost on the Panagia islet in the Oinousses island cluster. The initiative contributes to improving the outpost’s infrastructure and the living and working conditions of the personnel serving in this particularly sensitive area of the eastern Aegean.
The inauguration of the new facilities took place in the presence of the Commander of ASDA AM, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, representing the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis; the Metropolitan of Chios, Psara and Oinousses, Markos; the Commander of NASCHI, Navy Captain Iraklis Revinthis, representing the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras; the Commander of the 96th Higher Command of National Guard Battalions, Brigadier General Panagiotis Lympereas; and the Mayor of Oinousses, Georgios Daniil.
Eurobank was represented at the ceremony by Deputy Chief Executive Officer Stavros Ioannou, along with Giorgos Kipouros, Head of Geographic Sector B – Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The donation covers the building extension and construction of women’s accommodation quarters, the expansion of port facilities, and the installation of a new Greek flag mast — all contributing to the overall operational upgrade of the outpost and improved conditions for the personnel stationed there.
The “PANAGIA” Surveillance Outpost, which falls under the 96th Higher Command of National Guard Battalions (ADTE), is located on the Panagia islet in the Oinousses island cluster — an area of particular national significance in the northeastern Aegean.
“Your contribution to upgrading the infrastructure of the PANAGIA Outpost, as well as the infrastructure of the islet itself, is not merely a financial gesture or a routine act of corporate sponsorship — it directly touches the very core of national responsibility, social solidarity, and active patriotism,” said Lieutenant General Vakentis.
“Eurobank’s enduring commitment to contributing to areas of national importance is reflected through projects and interventions that leave a meaningful and lasting impact. Today’s donation to the ‘PANAGIA’ Surveillance Outpost reaffirms the bank’s steadfast support for the Greek Armed Forces, helping to upgrade the facility and improve the infrastructure and service conditions for the personnel stationed there. We will continue to invest in projects that strengthen critical infrastructure in areas of particular national significance, delivering interventions with a real social impact,” said Mr. Ioannou.
Eurobank: Supporting the Greek Armed Forces and broader social commitment
Eurobank has consistently stood alongside the state in areas of national importance — including national defence, civil protection, and public health — while also advancing corporate social responsibility initiatives that support education and strengthen social cohesion. In this context, the bank steadfastly supports the mission of the Greek Armed Forces, contributing to the modernisation of their infrastructure and the improvement of living and working conditions for military personnel.
Since the beginning of 2026, the bank has completed three donations to strengthen Greek Armed Forces infrastructure: the donation of equipment for the Readiness Building of the Military Unit on Agathonisi island, the renovation of the Diabetology Clinic at the Salamina Naval Hospital, and today’s donation to the “PANAGIA” Surveillance Outpost.
Additionally, the bank has committed to covering the cost of extensive renovation and infrastructure upgrade works — specifically classrooms, sanitary facilities, and dining and kitchen areas — at the Ikaron Air Force Academy. For a number of years, it has also been supporting the families of uniformed personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
These initiatives form part of Eurobank’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, developed through programmes that reinforce social cohesion and help address critical national challenges. Within this framework, through its “Forward for the Family” initiative, the bank is implementing a comprehensive strategy to tackle demographic decline — with a focus on the country’s eastern borders — by strengthening family support, employment, and local entrepreneurship.
