A major upset in Germany’s political landscape emerges from a YouGov Institute poll. Specifically, for the first time, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) leads in polling percentages, leaving the Christian Democrats/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) in second place. According to the survey, AfD captures 27% (+2 from the previous poll by the same institute), while CDU/CSU is limited to 26% (-1).
Following in the poll, according to ERT reports, are the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 15% (+1), the Greens with 11% (-1) and the Left with 9% (-1). The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) remains at the parliamentary threshold with 5%, while the Free Democratic Party continues to lag behind with 4% (+1).
