According to the joint ministerial decision, the allowance has been increased by 30%, with benefit amounts ranging from €100 to €1,560 for residents of the country’s coldest regions (Metsovo, Velouhi, Nymfaio, Nevrokopi, and Pertouli).
The allowance is granted to all eligible recipients regardless of the type of heating used in each household — whether heating oil, natural gas, electricity, LPG, firewood, pellets, blue kerosene, or district heating.
Applications are submitted online using personal TAXISnet credentials. Applicants must provide their primary residence electricity supply number, the type of heating used, and property details. Registration of a bank account IBAN on the myAADE platform is also required.
It is worth noting that the state subsidy of €0.20 per liter on heating oil has been extended until November 15, with an equal discount of €0.20 per liter added by refineries. This brings the total reduction to €0.40 per liter, applied directly at the point of sale.
Based on the latest available data, the national average price of heating oil stands at €1.566 per liter, with significant regional variation: from €1.538 per liter in Drama to €1.711 in the Cyclades. In Attica, the average price is €1.544 per liter.
Eligibility criteria
Specific income and asset thresholds apply for the heating allowance:
- Single individuals: Annual income up to €16,000.
- Married couples: Income up to €24,000, plus €5,000 for each dependent child.
- Single-parent families: Income up to €29,000, plus €5,000 for each additional child after the first.
- Real estate assets: Up to €200,000 for single individuals and up to €260,000 for married couples and single-parent families, with an additional €40,000 per dependent child.
For those engaged in business activity, total gross family income from that activity must not exceed €80,000.
Exclusions
Those who are not eligible include hosted individuals, dependent family members, those subject to a luxury living tax, and those who own more than two private vehicles. For the electricity heating subsidy, beneficiaries of the Social Household Tariff (ΚΟΤ) are also excluded.
Rules for apartment buildings
A special process applies for apartment buildings. Before individual applications are submitted, the building manager or representative must create a building profile on the myΘέρμανση (myHeating) platform, declaring the building’s details, individual apartments, and each property’s share of heating costs. Eligible residents can then submit their own individual applications. Heating oil purchase invoices must be issued under the apartment building’s tax registration number (AFM), where one exists, or under the AFM used to create the building’s profile.
Advance payment
Previous year beneficiaries will receive an advance payment based on 60% of the allowance they received in the 2025–2026 season, increased by 30%. For new beneficiaries, the advance is calculated at 50% of the projected amount, also increased by 30%. The minimum advance payment is €80.
Payment schedule
Following the December advance payment, a second payment will follow by May 28, 2027. For natural gas, district heating, and electricity users, a supplementary payment is scheduled by July 30, 2027. To receive the full allowance, beneficiaries must have made eligible heating purchases or consumed heating energy worth at least twice the amount of the subsidy they are entitled to.
