A lengthy session of the cabinet is expected to take place, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Maximos Mansion. With approximately six months to go before the national elections, the session will open with a review of critical government priorities for each ministry through the end of the current parliamentary term — that is, until elections are called. Following Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s opening address, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis and Minister of State Akis Skertsos will deliver their remarks, after which the relevant ministers will present their reports. The Prime Minister’s goal is to set concrete, tangible targets for each minister, with tight timelines and clear deliverables, while also putting to rest speculation that political heads in many ministries have already “put down their pencils” and are focusing primarily on their electoral constituencies.
“We have plenty of work ahead of us. Tomorrow (ed. note: today) at the Cabinet meeting, each minister will present their 3–4 key priorities before the elections, because we want the government to keep delivering results right up to the final stretch. The best predictor of an election outcome is effort, seriousness, and hard work,” Deputy Prime Minister Hatzidakis emphasized yesterday, speaking on Ertnews.
