The 32-year-old Algerian mother, accused of murdering her three-year-old daughter Jenna in Paleo Faliro, appeared completely composed during her lengthy testimony to the investigator. The only moment she “broke down” was at the end of her statement, before being ordered into pre-trial detention with the prosecutor’s agreement.

“We only saw her with tears in her eyes once, when she was leaving the investigator’s office – that’s when she broke down, while I would say she was absolutely composed throughout,” a Star TV reporter noted, describing the accused mother’s demeanor during her testimony that lasted seven full hours.
The 32-year-old mother’s testimony: “I was afraid to turn back”
The accused mother from Algeria stated during her testimony: “Jenna and I got into the shower for her bath. She asked for water and when I went to the kitchen to get it for her, I heard a thud like she had fallen. I quickly went back and saw her on the floor having convulsions. I held her and tried to revive her, and she came to a few minutes later. We got back in the bath and she fell for a second time. She lost consciousness and no matter how hard I tried, she wouldn’t come back. I thought Jenna was dead. I panicked, I was scared. At that moment, all I could think of was going to the sea. It was my mistake and I regret it, but she was already dead. I reached Faliro by tram, bought something from a kiosk, then we went to the beach. The children played at the playground and then, returning to the beach again, I went into the sea and left Jenna. I couldn’t bear to turn back and look at the child“, the 32-year-old claimed.
Why she attempted to flee the country
Among the many questions the 32-year-old faced from the investigator was why she tried to escape from the country after what she had done. “I was scared,” the accused replied. However, it’s noted that, according to the same source, during her testimony the mother spoke Greek quite well, which contradicts her previous stance that she doesn’t speak Greek at all.
It’s emphasized that during her testimony, which included an interpreter, she also spoke about the abuse she claims to have suffered from the children’s father, but she appeared prepared for her detention. Her defense is expected to appoint a technical advisor, while a request has already been submitted to the investigator to have an independent forensic pathologist determine whether Jenna’s injuries were inflicted before or after death. The 32-year-old reportedly categorically denied ever abusing her child in the past.
