Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew spoke about his phone call with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis while speaking from his birthplace, the island of Imbros, simultaneously revealing that the Prime Minister had asked him to officiate the wedding of his son, Konstantinos, in September 2027.

Patriarch Bartholomew: I spoke with Kyriakos Mitsotakis — he asked me to officiate his son’s wedding in September 2027
During the celebrations on the island of Imbros, where the Patriarchal Concelebration of the Primates is being held to mark the 65th anniversary of his ordination into the priesthood, Patriarch Bartholomew revealed that he had spoken by phone with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to wish him a speedy recovery following a minor cycling accident in Crete.
During the same conversation, Kyriakos Mitsotakis asked the Patriarch to set aside a day in September of next year — 2027 — to officiate his son’s wedding ceremony. As the Ecumenical Patriarch characteristically noted: “Yesterday I had the joy of speaking on the phone with the Prime Minister to wish him a speedy recovery after a small accident he had with his bicycle, and he asked me to set aside a day in September of next year to crown his son Konstantinos in holy matrimony. Perhaps, if my health allows.”
It is worth noting that Maria Sakkari and Konstantinos Mitsotakis have plans to marry sometime in 2027, with the well-known tennis star describing it as a “small” wedding with between 500 and 600 guests.
