The rent rebate payment will be issued to thousands of eligible recipients at the end of November. But who could be disqualified from the scheme? A fundamental requirement for receiving the rent rebate is a registered electronic lease agreement. When a landlord is exempt from the obligation to submit an electronic declaration, the tenant can use the “My Requests” feature on the myAADE platform to submit a copy of the handwritten contract that was active in the previous year, along with proof of rent payments.
The new income thresholds
At the same time, the increased income thresholds for the rent rebate, which have already been enacted into law, are now in effect:
- Up to €25,000 for single individuals.
- Up to €35,000 for married couples or civil partnership members, with an additional €5,000 for each dependent child.
- Up to €39,000 for single-parent families, with an extra €5,000 for each child beyond the first.
The new thresholds apply to rebates issued in 2026 and beyond, covering rent payments made from 2025 onwards.
This year’s scheme effectively creates two separate tracks for tenants: on one hand, the standard rebate equivalent to one month’s rent, and on the other, a special benefit for teachers and healthcare workers in regional areas, who — under certain conditions — may be eligible to receive a total rebate equivalent to two months’ rent.
