The United States is taking the NATO Summit (July 7-8) in Ankara, Turkey, very seriously, according to sources. Donald Trump and a large delegation are set to arrive in the Turkish capital on July 7, with the U.S. president scheduled to hold a private one-on-one meeting with his counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Reports suggest Trump is also eager to push through the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. According to Turkish media, Trump will first visit Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of modern Turkey’s founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to pay his respects. He will then proceed to the Presidential Complex, where the Turkish president will receive him with an official ceremony. The private meeting between the two leaders is expected to take place following the welcoming ceremony.
