The luxury yacht “Graceful,” which international media have linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin, was spotted on Monday (June 29) in Danish waters. The vessel was escorted by two Russian warships — a destroyer and a patrol ship — sparking a wave of questions and fueling numerous theories. The 82-meter-long yacht was observed sailing off the island of Anholt before heading toward Grenen, with Constantinople reportedly its most likely final destination.

The theories surrounding Putin’s yacht
The Graceful’s appearance in European waters is its first in three years. What is driving the speculation is the unusual military escort accompanying the vessel. International media are asking who is on board. Among the rumors circulating is the possibility that Alina Kabaeva — the former Olympic rhythmic gymnastics champion who has long been rumored to be Vladimir Putin’s partner and the mother of his children — may be aboard the yacht. Putin, however, has consistently denied any romantic relationship with her.

Other analysts are questioning whether this is a routine transfer or whether the voyage is connected to security concerns amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. Notably, according to foreign reports, the Graceful had previously been moved from a shipyard in Hamburg and renamed Kosatka in an attempt to evade war-related sanctions. The Graceful is considered the second-largest yacht among those associated with Putin.
