Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, in his speech at an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council, convened at the request of Iran, China and Cuba, characterized the conflict in the Middle East as an “illegal war imposed by two nuclear-armed bullying regimes, the United States and Israel.” During his address, the head of Iranian diplomacy described the operation as “blatantly unjustified and violent act of aggression.”

As he argued, “the attack began on February 28, at the very moment when Iran and the United States were engaged in a diplomatic process to resolve Washington’s alleged concerns about Tehran’s nuclear program.”
“The two countries betrayed diplomacy for the second time in nine months, blowing up the negotiation table,” he added.
Furthermore, he made special reference to the US and Israeli attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Girls’ School in the city of Minab, in southern Iran, which he characterized as one of the most shocking manifestations of the conflict.
“Among the most horrific manifestations of this aggression was the calculated, escalated attack on the school, where more than 175 students and teachers were slaughtered in cold blood,” he stated characteristically.
