The developments in the Middle East conflict and their impact on international energy markets were discussed in a meeting between Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou and US Interior Secretary and head of the Energy Sovereignty Council Doug Bergum.
According to Mr. Papastavrou, these developments confirm the need to further strengthen energy cooperation between the US and Greece.
“In an era,” he adds, “where energy security is a top priority, the strategy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government for the rapid development of the hydrocarbon sector, with the participation of the world’s two largest American energy companies, ExxonMobil and Chevron, takes on particular significance.
The same applies to the Vertical Corridor, as a strategic energy axis for Europe, which strengthens Greece’s role in the new energy architecture of Southeast Europe and enhances transatlantic energy cooperation.”
