Details of what government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said on SKAI radio:
Mr. Androulakis went to play “the godfather or godfathership game” and fell into the trap of this game. First, because he made a mistake, to put it politely, even though he knew. And when you insist on the mistake, you do it with intent, claiming that person wasn’t the Prime Minister’s godfather, but his late father’s, many years ago, so here it was “family responsibility, of family responsibility,” but should I say something?
Just as I don’t consider it a serious political accusation that someone who may be under serious criminal investigation, because they might have been your father’s or even your godfather years ago, means you should also be suspect or guilty, similarly, the fact that Mr. Androulakis appears to be godfather to two of those involved in today’s arrests, he himself apparently -as Mr. Lazaridis said- this doesn’t mean we will go and accuse Mr. Androulakis of being the same as those who were arrested. So, at least let the PASOK President learn the lesson from today, that politics cannot be conducted with family or godfathership responsibility. If any godfathership involves relationships in illegal acts, that’s another matter, right? Let’s reduce Greece’s “Frappe” cases.
I absolutely agree on this. To do this, because I don’t like it either, neither this image, nor this rhetoric, nor this person’s attitude, much less what we read he has done. And sorry for saying it so simply and cynically, I don’t think they represent either my party or any party. I don’t think, that is, that because someone might be Androulakis’ godfather, whoever Mr. Androulakis, it means that all of PASOK is represented by such people, nor New Democracy. Why do I say this? So they don’t do it to us, because unfortunately we suffered a very large “lumping together” attack. They told us, for example, that we cover up smugglers based on a cover-up theory over a tragic accident, instead of discussing the serious causes of a tragic accident.
They didn’t wise up, even though the cover-up collapsed and for three months they told us we were all members, everyone, the whole party, of a criminal organization, because some “cunning” people, who have all gone to the prosecutor or will go, depending on the case, were taking money from honest farmers, when they shouldn’t have. That’s why I say this, not to offset, the opposite. The Greece of “Frappe” belongs to the past and everyone illegal, in any case, must go to Justice.
