The 29-year-old has been remanded in custody for the fatal car accident in Loutra that claimed the life of a 24-year-old. The defendant, after his brief testimony and with the prosecutor’s agreement, was ordered to remain in pretrial detention. According to sources, the 29-year-old, through his defense attorney, requested a supplementary expert examination to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
The defendant is facing felony charges of dangerous driving resulting in death and multiple counts of bodily harm through negligence for the injuries caused during the crash. According to reports, during his testimony he allegedly stated: “I am in a terrible state, I apologize to the victim’s family. I cannot understand how I lost control of the vehicle.”
“Everything happened when a car emerged in front of me from the narrow street. To avoid it, I was forced to make an evasive maneuver and that’s when I lost control of the vehicle. I don’t rule out that there was a collision,” the 29-year-old maintained in his testimony.
