The representative of the alleged mastermind behind the casino “investor” fraud network, accused of orchestrating scams in Loutraki through fake agreements that convinced investors to hand over money that was never returned, made it clear that Spyros Martikas is not among those who will be compensated. Following news of the auction of the alleged mastermind’s house, his lawyer spoke on the show “Truths with Zina”. Initially, he cited psychiatric issues related to gambling addiction.
“It’s a psychiatric problem, which is why we will request an assessment from a technical advisor, a psychiatrist we will appoint who will conduct an expert evaluation regarding addiction, whether it’s a psychiatric problem,” he emphasized. He also discussed the extreme fluctuations of an addict, who might “have 200,000 euros on Monday, see his house go to auction, and lose it all at the roulette table Monday night”.
Casino “investor” scam: Compensation, but not for everyone
The lawyer for the alleged mastermind accused of fraud through supposed “investments” discussed how his client’s side, namely the family environment, plans to compensate those affected. He doesn’t include Spyros Martikas, who claimed to have lost hundreds of thousands of euros, since there’s a settlement receipt. Regarding the 50,000 euros allegedly owed to Vrisiida Andriotou, the defendant’s counsel was reserved: “Regarding the victims, on Monday I will send four out-of-court declarations. The family has collected some money and will also sell two properties to compensate as much as possible.
With Mr. Martikas we will not proceed with any action because there is fierce opposition, and because there is a settlement receipt in the case file. We are accused for 50,000, not 700,000, so you understand we cannot offer money for something we don’t acknowledge. For the 50,000, from which our dear colleague also made a profit while denying it’s usurious, we’ll see how we classify it. We hope that for Mr. Martikas, the settlement receipt that the Corinth investigator has will apply”.
