Criminal charges have been filed by the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office against a 41-year-old man following the murder of a female paramedic from EKAB (Greece’s National Emergency Medical Service) on the island of Syros. According to ERT, the 41-year-old has been charged with manslaughter, while his wife faces charges of complicity. The couple has been given until Tuesday (28/07) to appear before the investigating magistrate and enter their pleas. Meanwhile, according to cyclades24, a forensic medical examination is expected to take place on Monday — the findings of which are considered crucial to the direction of the investigation.
Syros: Crime scene reconstruction completed
Earlier on Saturday morning (25/07), a reconstruction of the crime scene was carried out in the presence of police officers and both suspects — the alleged perpetrator and his wife — as part of the investigation into the case.
The procedure was ordered by the First Instance Prosecutor of Syros. Shortly after 7:00 a.m., the wife of the alleged attacker arrived at the crime scene accompanied by police officers to take part in the first stage of the reconstruction. The alleged perpetrator was subsequently brought to the location to carry out his own account of events.
According to reports, the two suspects showed no contradictions — either between themselves or in relation to the initial statements they had previously given to police authorities.
It is worth noting that both individuals had been brought before the First Instance Prosecutor’s Office of Syros on Friday (24/07); however, no charges were filed at that time, as the prosecutor ordered the continuation of the preliminary inquiry and the conduct of a crime scene reconstruction. Authorities are investigating the reasons why the 41-year-old female paramedic went to the couple’s home, as well as the sequence of events that led to her fatal injury.
