Israel will press forward with “whatever is necessary” to ensure its security, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, making clear that his country will continue to act even without reaching a formal agreement. According to Israeli media reports, the Israeli Prime Minister also addressed his relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he described as “the best friend we’ve ever had in the White House.” Despite acknowledging the close cooperation with Washington, Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s security and existence are not subject to negotiation.

The remarks were made following a ceremony marking the reinterment of the remains of Simon Loeb and Rivka Herzl, the grandparents of Theodor Herzl — the founding father of political Zionism — according to Ynet. Netanyahu’s comments come as Israel launches fresh military strikes in southern Lebanon. It is worth noting that negotiations between the two countries in Rome are currently underway in an effort to finalize the terms of the framework agreement signed approximately one month ago.
