US President Donald Trump is expected to undergo a routine medical examination today at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, according to the White House, marking his third such appointment in the past 13 months. The White House had announced earlier this month that Trump would undergo his usual annual dental and medical examinations as part of his routine preventive healthcare.
In October, Dr. Sean Barbarella stated that Trump’s heart and circulatory system are like those of a 65-year-old, although the American president is 79 years old, following what the president called a “six-month medical checkup.” Trump, the oldest president ever sworn in to office in the US, had undergone his previous annual medical examination in April 2025.
Trump: The announcement about venous insufficiency
US presidents traditionally release information about their health, although they are not legally required to do so.
There has been various speculation regarding Trump’s health, as images of bruising on his hands –some of which appeared to be covered with makeup– and his legs appearing swollen circulated on the internet.
Trump, who turns 80 next month, attributed the bruising to frequent handshakes. The White House cited the use of blood-thinning medication as the cause.
In July, the White House announced that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a harmless condition of the leg veins that mainly affects older people.
