The death of popular Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis has taken a new dimension following sharp remarks by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis regarding the private facility where the beloved singer suffered a cardiac arrest. In a social media post, the minister directly raised questions about the operating status of the facility, which he described as a “so-called clinic.” According to Georgiadis, the premises reportedly held a license for a simple general medical practice — a license that, he argues, does not permit the performance of certain medical procedures.

Adonis Georgiadis specifically referred to plasmapheresis — the procedure Mazonakis was reportedly about to undergo — stressing that such a procedure is not authorized to be carried out at a facility operating under that particular license.
Investigation launched by the Athens Medical Association
The Health Minister also revealed that the president of the Athens Medical Association (ISA) has already launched an investigation into the exact circumstances under which Mazonakis suffered the cardiac arrest. “Of course, the precise causes of his death will be determined by the forensic investigation, along with whether any liability exists and who bears it,” he stated. He concluded by urging patients to exercise caution about what they read online and to avoid risking their health under dubious conditions.
