US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle has underscored the importance Washington places on its relationship with Israel, following her meeting with the newly arrived Israeli Ambassador to Athens, Pninat Yanay.

Guilfoyle after meeting with Yanay: “Israel will always remain a vital ally of the United States”
“As President Trump has said, Israel will always remain a vital ally of the United States of America,” Guilfoyle stated in a message marking the meeting between the two diplomats. The US Ambassador also expressed her satisfaction at this first contact with Israel’s new representative in Greece, noting that both sides have significant common ground ahead of them. “I look forward to working closely with Ambassador Yanay to further strengthen our excellent cooperation on regional energy security, civilian protection, and historical memory,” she said.

Energy, security, and defense take center stage
Pninat Yanay has recently taken up her post in Athens as Israel’s diplomatic representative to Greece, arriving at a time when Athens and Tel Aviv maintain broad cooperation across a range of strategic areas. Among the top priorities on their shared agenda are defense and security, as well as energy matters — sectors in which the two countries have significantly deepened their ties in recent years. For her part, the new Israeli Ambassador has identified the expansion of Greek-Israeli relations as one of the central objectives of her tenure. Particular emphasis is expected to be placed on further developing collaboration in energy, new technologies, and defense, building on the strong foundations that Greece and Israel have already established.
