The New Democracy parliamentary group is meeting in Parliament amid tensions and disagreements from party members. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about a third four-year term and the development trajectory while focusing on major new reforms. Regarding the constitutional revision, he emphasized that it begins today and spoke of a core of changes with institutional, economic and identity content. He discussed comprehensive evaluation in the public sector and revision of article 86. New Democracy: Provisions for revision
To date, New Democracy has put the following provisions for revision into public dialogue:
Article 5 (Free development of personality, personal freedom) for protecting individual freedom and security from Artificial Intelligence
Article 16 (Education, arts, science) for establishing non-state universities
Article 30 (The President of the Republic as regulator of the political system) for only one six-year term for the President
Article 51 (Election of MPs, electoral rights – specifically for postal voting) and Article 54 (Electoral system, electoral districts, state MPs) for electoral law
Article 86 (Prosecution of government members, Special Court) for criminal liability of ministers
Article 90 (Supreme Judicial Council) for selecting judicial leadership
Article 101A (Independent authorities) for Independent Authorities
Article 103 (Public servants) redefining tenure of civil servants
