New Democracy MP Makis Boridis launched direct attacks against European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi, following her recent statements at the 11th Delphi Economic Forum, arguing that she operated more within a political rather than legal framework. Speaking on Monday morning (27.04.2026) on SKAI, the ND MP characterized as “striking” the fact that European Prosecutor Laura Kövesi “is beginning to make political statements,” noting that this, according to him, reveals how she perceives her role.

Boridis: “How is forwarding a citizen’s request a punishable act”
“She perceives her role as a political catalyst and not as a prosecutor. Under the pretext and on the occasion of combating corruption, political statements are being made,” the former minister characteristically stated.
Makis Boridis insisted that he did not hear legal argumentation from the European Prosecutor, but political judgments. “I didn’t hear legal discussion, only political statements. I want someone to explain to me legally how forwarding a citizen’s request is a punishable act,” he said.
