Government and opposition return from their brief Easter break with weapons drawn, as the first parliamentary battle will be fought tomorrow, Thursday, in the Parliament plenary session, where at 11 AM a pre-agenda discussion at the level of political leaders will take place on the rule of law, institutions, and justice. However, it is considered certain that tomorrow’s discussion will also address other issues such as new developments in the OPEKEPE scandal, the wiretapping case, and the issue concerning the diploma of Deputy Minister of Rural Development Makarios Lazaridis.
Tomorrow’s Parliament debate – Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Androulakis to exchange heated exchanges
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will unleash his fire on the leader of the main opposition Nikos Androulakis, according to sources, while referring to the institutional initiatives the government has taken to strengthen the rule of law. Regarding the wiretapping issue, he will refer to the Justice investigation and the recent decision of the Athens Misdemeanor Court and the conviction of four private individuals.
For his part, PASOK president Nikos Androulakis will attack the prime minister over the wiretapping case, while possibly presenting new evidence around the wiretapping affair. He will also insist on calling him the “Nixon” of Greece, will refer once again to his proposal for establishing an investigative committee, and will repeat his call for elections to bring “political change” to the country. As for the other opposition parties, particularly SYRIZA and New Left, they will address among other things the issue of Deputy Minister of Rural Development Makarios Lazaridis’s diploma, while the remaining parties will also launch fierce attacks on the government.
