Dramatic change in the weather scenario in the coming days, as despite the fact that May started with cold, rain, and even snow in mountainous areas, from Monday (4/5) the temperature will gradually rise, with meteorologists’ forecasts predicting temperatures up to 30°C.
Weather: End of the “cold scenario”, temperature rise coming, up to 30°C
Specifically, after the particularly cold and unstable weekend, according to meteorologist Yannis Kallianos’ forecast, the unseasonably low temperatures and strong northerly winds will gradually subside from Monday (4/5). The atmosphere clears, sunshine intervals increase, and temperatures rise, bringing more spring-like conditions across Greece.
In his post, he states:
“THE COLD SCENARIO IS ENDING AND A SIGNIFICANT TEMPERATURE RISE IS COMING NEXT WEEK
– After the particularly cold weekend we’re experiencing in most of the country – weather unusual for the first days of May – the atmospheric circulation appears to be gradually changing. Until Sunday, May 3, weather conditions will remain without significant change, with local rainfall, unseasonably low temperatures, and strong northerly winds reaching locally 7-8 Beaufort in the Aegean, and possibly 9 Beaufort in the southeastern Aegean.
– However, from Monday, May 4, the weather will gradually change. Sunshine intervals will increase, winds will show gradual weakening, and temperature will begin an upward trend, resulting in a return to more typical spring conditions.
– More specifically, on Monday, May 4, maximum temperature on the mainland will range between 22-24°C, while in island areas it will reach approximately 18-21°C. Tuesday expects further increase, with maximum values on the mainland touching 26-28°C and on islands 22-24°C. Similar will be the picture on Wednesday, May 6, with temperatures at 26-28°C on the mainland and 22-25°C on islands. Thursday, temperature will show new increase, reaching 28-30°C on the mainland and 24-27°C in island areas.
– Similar will be the maximum temperatures in the 5 largest cities of the country until next Thursday, data shown analytically in the charts below.
– However, from late next week and mainly from Thursday, May 7 towards Friday, May 8, possibilities increase for even further temperature rise. This relates to the possible transport of warmer air masses from North Africa, which through the central Mediterranean may move towards Greece. This development, if confirmed, could lead to temperatures significantly higher than normal seasonal levels, particularly towards next weekend May 9-10.
-> In any case, this specific scenario has not yet fully “locked” at forecast level. Monitoring of the coming days and convergence of forecast models is required to know the intensity and duration of the warm invasion, should it ultimately occur.
-> Nevertheless, the general atmospheric trend tends towards warmer conditions, an element worth studying in the coming days.
Good weekend, with health, to everyone”.
