In a social media post, Eurogroup President and Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, referred to the proposal he put forward on Thursday in Brussels at the EU Budget Conference 2026, calling for a central European frequency auction to replace 27 separate national ones.

In the video accompanying his post, Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized that “in this way, we will free up resources and give an even greater boost to a sector where Europe already has world-class champions.”
